My favorite project throughout the semester was the final logo project. Creating my logo was something I was looking forward to at the beginning of the year and was not disappointed when it was time to do the project. Logos have always interested me and when I got the chance to do my own I was really happy. I found the feedback from my peers really helped me because with their suggestions I was able to add things that made the logo.

Skills that I learned from the course was the use of the Adobe software. All the tools on there, like Premiere and Illustrator, are made essential in this class for a good reason. In the real job world, many companies require the knowledge of software like these and the fact that we all have a jump on the rest of employees is a big advantage.

Journalism is the career path I want to continue going down. Someday, I hope to be a sports analyst on either television or on the radio. There was no content from this course that convinced me I wanted to do this because I had already known. Nevertheless, this course gave me necessary skills that I will need throughout my career.

I cannot think of anything that I wished I would have learned and did not. This class surpassed all of my expectations. All I wanted to learn was how to photoshop and improve my video creating skills. Instead, I learned how to do a lot more; this class also improved my writing and typing, as we had to write on our blog posts.

When I wanted to find music for my back round music, I usually went to https://freesound.org/. The site was easy to use and the downloading process was quick and easy.

I loved this class, as the material was a lot easier and more fun to do since it was about a subject we are passionate about. Thank you to my TA and instructor for all the help.

Idea and Inspiration: For my video project I decided to create a series of pictures and videos that show the process I go through when I go fishing. For this whole semester, I focused my project on fishing in eastern Washington.

Design Process: When thinking of the design process I should try and model my video after, I started watching YouTube videos that are similar to my project. I found one video that I really liked that involved a lot of the same aspects that are in my video. Just like mine, it showed the drive over to the spot and the equipment he used for fishing. First, I went fishing and took a lot of pictures including the drive there and the process of me actually fishing. After that, I put all of them together using Premiere. I also added titles for a lot of the pictures and video to give viewers a better idea of what they are for.

Technical Detail: All of the videos and pictures in the video were taken by me on my phone. In Premiere, I used the text option a lot to explain my content. One problem I had encountered was that I had trouble transferring all the videos from my phone to Premiere. For people who encounter this problem in the future, I would suggest emailing them all to yourself and adding the videos to a flash drive to plug into the computer.

For this project I decided to make an instructional video for my fishing project. The video starts out by me driving down the road to the fishing spot. the video continues of me showing pictures of the river and where I parked. I based my video off of another video I saw on youtube about a guy doing an instructional video. He was very professional and did a great job explaining everything in the video.

I later plan on adding myself in the back ground and explaining the video. I want my final product to be an instructional video.

This video will be an instructional tutorial on fishing. Throughout the video I will giving instructions and talking over the videos. The first video will be clips of me driving to the spot I will be fishing, like in unedited #2. Next I will show pictures of where I will be fishing and the setup of my pole. Next, I will show videos of me actually fishing, including casting. To fishing, I will talk about my final thoughts and than include the credits.

I had the initial idea to do my audio story while listening to a youtube Joey Kruse. Joey makes fishing videos and I watched the one where he was in Pullman and fished the Snake River. The way Joey explained everything and talked about the fishing process was really interesting and inspired me to do this project as well as make my audio story the way I did. I was really proud of my draft audio story as the running river and the way I explained everything was good in my opinion. I received a few comments from my peers on the draft, and I thought all of them were really helpful. Some of the comments were to add another person into my my podcast, lower the volume of the river and fade the river in and out better. I added all those suggestions to my final except for another person being interviewed as I felt that would ruin the goal I was going for in the story. I lowered the volume of the river as I did feel my voice was being drowned out by it. I also increased the length of the fade at the start and end of my story. This was my favorite tutorial and final by far, as talking about my project was really enjoyable. My goal for the story was to educate people about fishing in Eastern Washington and also try and convince them how fun it is. Hopefully I will convince at lest 1 person to go out and fish, as it is super relaxing and a great way to release yourself from all the stress college throws your way. I am looking forward to making a video about my project, as it will be really fun to do and just gives me another excuse to go fishing.

Idea and Inspiration: For my draft audio story I decided to make an informational/how-to audio on my fishing experience in eastern Washington. My course topic is called Fishing in Eastern Washington, so I thought an informational audio story would be a good fit.

Design Process: What inspired me for my audio story was the Audition tutorials. In the first tutorial, where we had to count and put it to music, I was inspired to do a similar thing for my audio story. Instead of music playing in the back round, like in the tutorial, I have the noise of a running river to go along with the “fish” theme of my project. First, I made a recording of my voice, which covers information like where I fish, what fish are in the rivers, the type of fishing pole I use, how to go about fishing on a river and what you can do with the fish once one is caught. Next, I found the sound of a river on freesound.org. I applied the two together and edited them so the river faded in and out. Then, I made the sound of the river soften when I started talking.

Technical Detail: The first element was me talking. I used Voice Memos app on my iPhone to record myself. For the river sound, I went to freesound.org and downloaded the free sound. I used to the clipping tool a lot on Audition because I made the river start and end 5 seconds before and after my voice recording. The volume was also important because I needed to make the sound of the river more quiet while I was talking. Controlling the volume of the river was challenging for me at first, but later figured out that the keynotes move it up and down.

My final logo design was very fun to make. My initial draft logo was similar, but the changes I added improved it overall. The draft had the text saying “Nick’s Fishin'” at the top of the logo and the colors were not as fluent.

The revisions I received were very helpful toward my final design project. One of my suggestions was adding the circle around the logo, which I did. Also I was suggested to change up my text. I moved it from the top of the logo to the side, and added fishing line and a hook to the text.

In the revision of my logo, I switched some things around, mostly with the text. In the draft, my text was at the top of the logo. In the new logo, I put the text on the side of logo. Also, I added fishing line going throughout the pole. I also added a fishing hook at the end of the line and attached the text to the hook. I like this because it creatively incorporates the text with the logo. Another aspect I added was the circle around the logo. I think this circle is important because it really draws focus to the logo and makes it more attractive.
